LIFT: Local Investment in Future Talent

A skills and employability grant scheme

There are two parts to the LIFT funding programme:

The first is a three strand supportive grant programme aimed specifically at rural areas in Norfolk and some parts of north Suffolk. It will invest in locally-based skills and employability support projects including:

  • LIFT Jobs: schemes for local unemployed or economically inactive people - No longer open to new applications - consider LIFT Community Grants instead
  • LIFT Trials: support for local businesses to offer work trials. No longer open to new applications - consider LIFT Community Grants  instead
  • LIFT Skills and Small Skills: support for employed people to gain skills to progress at work No longer open to new applications

LIFT Jobs, Skills & Trials is primarily aimed at smaller organisations based in rural Norfolk and North Suffolk and will enable them to be highly responsive to localised needs at market town or even village level.

South Norfolk and Broadland District Councils are delivery partners and can offer match funding to projects in their district areas.

The second part to the programme is LIFT Community Grants: - Still open to new applications

Together with Suffolk County Council as a delivery partner, Norfolk County Council through the LIFT programme is now administering the distribution of Community Grants throughout the whole of Norfolk and Suffolk. Approximately £800K is available for community based structured learning provision aimed at unemployed and inactive people aged 16+ who are facing barriers to work and/or disadvantage in the work place. This fund is aimed at VCSE sector organisations and offers 100% funding for eligible and desirable projects.

All LIFT programmes are funded by the European Social Fund. They are administered by Norfolk County Council. Decisions on funding are made by the Norfolk and Suffolk LIFT boards- local people funding local projects.
