Farm Managers for the FutureBack
Training Association EAST has been awarded £15,757 from the LIFT Programme for their Farm Managers for the Future project which will offer training in two key arable farming skills to aspiring farm managers.
Their BASIS course is designed to develop skills in identifying arable weeds, pests and disease and to understand the most appropriate measures to take to reduce and prevent the threat to the crops safely, with the wider environment in mind.
Their FACTS course is focused on developing skills in plant nutrition in relation to the application of fertilisers. FACTS also covers codes of good agricultural practise, fertiliser storage and handling techniques necessary to protect the environment.
Training Association East, an established, local, rural skills training provider have received LIFT Skills funding so that they can offer affordable training to farming businesses aimed at young, aspiring farm managers with a view to progressing them towards managerial roles.
15 trainees are expected to take both courses with at least 11 passing the examinations at the end giving them units towards a level 3 qualification.
